Great News!!!
Bruce's needle biopsy is negative for cancer!
We've had such a wonderful day after getting the call. I think we were both afraid when we got the call on Monday instead of Tuesday, thinking it would be bad news. Thank you everyone for the prayers and support! It wouldn't have worked if not for you!!!
To celebrate, our friends, Dave and Jean, took us to Waldo's for supper. When we got there, friends of ours, Terry and Kathy, from Fargo, just happened to be there so we all sat together. What a perfect end to an already GREAT day!

Brad & Julia Livingston
Well I am doing well here in training. This week I am out in the field and using weapons like the movie Rambo. It is fun shooting but holding the weapon is hard. Fortunately, there is a girl here who can get internet. However, it is only for a short time. Time is flying by. Tomorrow it will be a long day. We are shooting at night. There are 8 females in our group and 32 males. So far things are going good just busy work. I will try to get pix next time. My battle buddie (army term for roomate) has to lug around this huge weapon that comes up to her shoulder. Fortunate, the guys are helping out. In two weeks, we have to do this road march for 10 miles. AHAH we did 5 miles last week and it was hard. It was tough because we had to have a backpack with 35 pounds and march. My shoulders were tired. Oh the joys of being in the army. Well I gotta go do some night vision light ray on my weapon.

Hi,
Sorry for the mass e-mail but wanted to inform you all of what's going on.
Bill entered the Nursing Home in Bowman on March 24 for rehab so he can get stronger and come home again. I hate that he needs to be in but he is weak and falls. The last time he fell was last Thursday about 12:30 AM, he didn't want to disturb me so tried to get up to go to the bathroom by himself. I heard him hit the floor beside the bed. Then I WAS disturbed as I'm always afraid he will break a bone and I have to pick him up off the floor and he is not able to help much. Thank heaven he hasn't broken any bones. The home put a beeper on him so they know if he tries to get up alone.
A month or so ago they had an opening at St. Ben's home in Dickinson but Bill swore and just refused to go. I think we would have needed 3 men and a straight jacket to get him to go there and I was against it also as I couldn't drive that far daily to see him, especially with the $3.00+ gas. The Bowman home called last week just after his fall. I could hardly hold him up to walk that morning and he really leaned to the right. Bill accepted now that he needed to go in before he breaks something and has to stay there permanently. It was very hard for me to put him in the Nursing Home Monday but I have accepted that I can't do it all. I had no idea how tired I was until Bill went in, with the strain of always listening for him to try to get up by himself, I wasn't getting restful sleep. The last 3 nights I've slept all night. The tightness is out of my shoulders and I'm smiling more. He was complaining at home that I was always telling him what to do and bossing him around. We both said he better go in while we are still friends. Now we can just visit and enjoy being together and smile more. I'm not the bad guy anymore telling him how to walk or drink more water etc. He will get occupational and physical therapy for at least a month.
I don't go to Bowman until afternoon as I vowed to myself I wasn't spending 15 hour days there as we would be paying them and I would be doing the work. I want to catch up on things I need to do around here before he is ready to come home. I haven't had much energy left to do things around here especially the day or so after he has fallen. One week he fell 3 days in a row during the day and I called Bart the last 2 days. I just didn't have the energy to pick him up.
If you'd like to send him an e-mail you can send it to rstrand@swhealthcare.net or to me of course and I will take it in. Bill is adjusting well. He is eating good and likes the food except the spaghetti. Don't know why they don't serve rotinni or a bigger pasta. Maybe the cost.
Bill knows alot of the residents, visitors and staff so he can visit. He didn't know his roommate before tho. Bill talks so quiet that it's hard for some to hear him. He's not much for playing bingo tho.
The ground was white with snow Thursday AM but has melted now. We may get more, now that it's spring and calving time it snows.

Bruce & Diane Livingston
The needle biopsy was done on Bruce's left upper thigh yesterday. They told him they wouldn't know the results until Tuesday.
After the biopsy, Bruce was feeling pretty good so we left from there for Prescott. Our friends Dave and Jean went with us for moral support to the hospital and we had talked earlier in the year of doing this road trip. We did some sight seeing, shopping and also visited Bruce's aunt and uncle, Darryl and Inez, then their son popped in for a visit too. Bruce's cousin's name is Brian.
Bruce had a very good day yesterday. He says he's had several really good days lately! He is such a strong guy. His faith and the support of friends and family are what builds him up!!!

Bruce & Diane Livingston
Well, the MRI Bruce had the other day showed that there needed to be more investigation. He will have a biopsy of the sore spot on his left leg sometime next week. It's the upper thigh and the spot is as big as my hand with my fingers spread. Today he's not feeling well. This waiting makes me sick too! The DR has apologized for all the waiting.
We went to the grocery store to get the ingredients for the grape salad we are taking to the park Easter Dinner. It was crazy!!! I think everyone is like me and waits for the last minute!?!
We are going to our friends house for grilled porkchops tonight. They are from MN (as are most of the snowbirds here). They pull a fifth wheel here and are across the street from us.
Hope everyone a Happy Easter.

Bruce & Diane Livingston
What a beautiful day!!! Perfect first day of Spring in AZ.
Today Bruce had an MRI of his left thigh. He's been having trouble with it hurting and it's swelled. Of course at this point, the Dr jumps on any problem Bruce has, so it is addressed right away. The results probably won't be reported to us until his next appointment in April. We were at the Mayo Clinic from just before 11 am until after 1 pm. We took another couple with us, Dave and Jean. After the exam we went for lunch at Fountain Hills and watched the fountain erupt. We even stopped at a Goodwill Store. Jean found a pasta machine for conditioning clay and I found a toaster oven to bake clay! Working with clay is our new craft interest. (I took a class on clay the other day. What fun, we made beads, buttons and a book.) On the way back home we stopped at Saguaro Lake and had dessert!
We will be having a pot luck dinner for Easter at the clubhouse. Lots have gone home, but quite a few of us are still here.

Bruce & Diane Livingston
Well, the Dr has more areas he wants to investigate. Bruce will have more tests on the 19th. He has a spot on his leg that needs looking into and will need an MRI for that, we aren't sure if Dr said he'd order a full body scan that day too, will have to wait for scheduling to call. Bruce said if this is not good news we will be going back to ND immediately.
Nancy, we looked for you everywhere we went in the hospital. We even went back to the Transplant House, just in case you visited there. Sorry we missed you.
We had a very nice visit with our friends, Justin and Amy (Seagren) Hauff yesterday. They are visiting Justin's parents who winter in AZ too. They have a pool and the kids were in the pool for 4+ hours!!! They are disappointed when they go sight seeing because it cuts into their swim time!
The weather has been really nice, in the 80's during the day, but cooling to low 60's at night. The desert is really beautiful this winter. Mountains are green, with flowers blooming everywhere. The trouble is I wear jeans all the time so don't get the tan most people try to do here. I still get the "farmer's" tan! We do wear a big hat when we can though.
Tomorrow night is a potluck, I signed us up to bring a veggie. Still haven't decided what it will be. Yikes time flys!

Happy Spring!
The desert is in bloom, there are flowers everywhere! We had rain at the right time for the flowers and the mountains are green. Although the evenings are cold, the days are beautiful.
There are so many activities at the park, it's hard to attend all of them. Tonight we had a movie night, "RV" was the movie we watched. Although most of us had seen it before, it's still fun to watch with a bunch of friends. Last week it was "Calendar Girls".
Tomorrow the ladies want to do the pendants like we made on Monday. These are glass pieces that are heated and a powder applied along with a plastic film then mashed with a rubber stamp. The outcome looks like a piece of carnival glass. We've gotten so many positive remarks when we wear them and they are each different from the other. Most made at least two, some made more! Four of us were taught how to do them at a rubber stamp expo last weekend. When we came back to the park wearing them, the others wanted to do them, so we had to go back to get the supplies!
Nancy, Bruce has appointments on the 12th, maybe we can have a snack at the hospital cafe or meet at the Transplant House, as I guess we have mail there.
Bruce has not been feeling well lately. He called the nurse and she wants him to see a "tummy" Dr. She is trying to get that scheduled on the 12th too. He has been going to Men's Bible Study every week, that is one of the things he looks forward to most.

Bill & Karen Fisher
I received this from Bill's sister JoAnn and it says it all, be thankful for what we have. I'm so thankful Bill is as well as he is and I can have him home with me. His memory seems better but his strength and ability to walk and get up aren't good.
We had a beautiful day here (64 degrees) so we went into Bowman and walked on the walking path a little till he was tired. May try the Rec. center next week. Love, Karen
